Stress-free Thanksgiving in NYC + our latest challenge!

Stress-free Thanksgiving in NYC + our latest challenge!

We can’t believe it is November and Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  We have mixed feelings about this holiday.  The spirit of it is wonderful, because it is a secular holiday where all people are encouraged to come together, break bread and give thanks. The mixed feelings come from the historical link to the decimation of Native American people. We are not here for that history.  We take the day off as an opportunity to be with family, friends and good food.

To that end, we have started planning the dishes we’ll be making.  It is easier this year because we snapped up “Superfun Times: Vegan Holiday Cookbook” by chef Isa Chandra.  This book has recipes for every occasion from the Superbowl to Passover.  It also has gorgeous photos and witty commentary that Isa is known for. We love this book so much that is has become our new challenge.  We will cook all 250+ recipes and show you the results.  So far we have made three recipes, including these incredible blueberry buckwheat pancakes. Look out for our progress pictures on Instagram and Facebook.

Not everyone loves cooking for the holidays, but most of us love eating. For our NYC area friend here is a list of vegan restaurants that are serving special meals on Thanksgiving.  As a bonus we curated a list of vendors that have Thanksgiving catering. Let us know if you have any to add. Enjoy!
