High Protein Almond Smoothie

For us, diet is 80% of the battle of staying trim. We will never miss a planned workout, but we also have a hard time missing that second helping of dessert.  Eating a nutritious breakfast helps us stay fueled and on track for the rest of the day.  Lately we have been experimenting with our meals to get more protein, less fat and fewer refined carbohydrates.  This protein packed smoothie has been our daily breakfast during the week.  We make it the night before so it is chilled the next day.  Try it in the morning for a protein-boost, or right after an intense workout. You will feel the difference!


High Protein Almond Smoothie

Serves: 2

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 3 tbsp Orgain chocolate protein powder (or your preferred vegan protein powder)
  • 2 tsp ground flax meal
  • 1 1/2 cup filtered water (or to desired consistency)
  • 1 drop of almond essence

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 1-2 minutes or until well mixed.  Serve chilled.
