Philidelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
We shudder to say it, but after so many years of living in the northeast, one of the Adashoftwo twins had never been to Philly (cough-cough - it was Joy). Luckily the Roots Picnic 2015 had an awesome line up and gave us an amazing excuse for a road trip.
It was a short trip, and we spent most of it taking in The Weeknd, Hiatus Kaiyote and Erykah Badu backed by the Roots. Food at the festival was extremely limited (as were the amenities and facilities - but I will leave that for another post) so we relied on trusty luna bars and nuts.
We did have a great fortune of getting to Green Eggs Cafe for brunch the next day. This is a eco-friendly omnivore restaurant with excellent vegan options. They have three locations in Philly and one in Miami.
We waited about 30 minutes in the summer sun, but we were rewarded with absolutely incredible meals. The food was creative, rich and plentiful. We sampled the "Ultimate Tofu Scramble" and the "Vegan stuffed french toast" (which may not be on the menu anymore).
Did we mention the delicious drinks and affordable prices? We wish we had time to sample more, but sadly we had to jet back to Manhattan. We got the chance to check out a few of the sights in this beautiful city, but will certainly be back for more this summer.
Have you ever been to Philadelphia? Do you have any suggestions for vegan restaurants?
